BTC trades every second of the year, but the PEOPLE trading it don't. Liquidity follows the sun: the US/EU session overlap carries the deepest books and cleanest trends; late Asian hours and weekends run thin. Same market, three different personalities per day.
The clock in practice
- Thin hours exaggerate: small orders travel far, ranges look violent, fakeouts multiply. Size DOWN or stand down.
- Weekend gaps-in-spirit: crypto has no Monday gap, but weekend moves on thin books often retrace when full liquidity returns — the market 're-prices' the weekend.
- Big session opens (US especially) reset the tape: fresh flow either validates or unwinds whatever the thin hours built.
Ask 'who is awake right now?' before trusting any move. A breakout at peak liquidity and the same breakout at 3am Sunday are different animals wearing the same candle.
